| High Risk in southern
Illinois took us almost all the way to Kentucky before we
encountered this wall cloud (#1). In spite of its massive
appearance it did not rotate and failed to produce a tornado. |
| While stopped at a hotel for the
night in Rochester, Minnesota a strong cell passed over us and to
our surprise the storm produced a downpour of quarter size hail(#2
& #3). |
| While waiting for storms to intensify near
Alliance, Nebraska the cell in the first two photos(above right) produced a wall
cloud(#4) & what
may have been a weak tornado(#5). A dust cloud can be seen near
the ground in photo #5. The storm in the third photo
was weak but had an interesting updraft base nonetheless(#6). |
|
This day was wild in Nebraska, storms in
the late morning (#7), storms in the afternoon (#8, #9), a strong
storm at sunset with a funnel cloud (#10) that produced a
small tornado later & stirred up dust from a farm field (#11). |
