 THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
 TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

            NORTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
            OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE
            TEXAS PANHANDLE

                   EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 330 PM UNTIL 1000 PM CDT.

               ...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION...
 
                   DAMAGING TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL TO 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER...     THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

                   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 90 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES NORTHEAST OF CLAYTON NEW MEXICO TO 30 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PLAINVIEW TEXAS.

                   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.  PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

                   DISCUSSION...VERY UNSTABLE AIRMASS WITH CAPES ABOVE 4000 J/KG COUPLED WITH STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR AND HELICITIES TO 300 M2/S2 IN PLACE E OF DRY LINE ACROSS TX/OK PANHANDLE.  SEVERE STORMS EXPECTED TO RAPIDLY DEVELOP ALONG THE DRY LINE AND LOCALLY ACROSS THE PANHANDLE IN AREAS OF FAVORABLE LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE.  STORMS TO
QUICKLY BECOME SUPERCELLS WITH POTENTIAL FOR VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES.
 

                   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 4 INCHES.  EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 70 KNOTS.  A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 600.  MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 26030.
