Carlton Evans

Carlton Evans was born in Nashua, New Hampshire in the heart of the roaring 20's and grew up in the depression.  He attended public schools in Nashua entering the New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire.  He entered Dartmouth College during World War II under the V-12 program.  He attended the Northwestern University Midshipman School in Chicago  being graduated and commissioned on Navy Pier in May 1945.  Destroyer Training School and Navigation School followed at the Norfolk Virginia Navy Yard.  He was navigator on the USS Stribling DD867 at commissioning in August 1945.  Following honorable discharge with a grade of Lieutenant Junior Grade in July 1946, he returned to Dartmouth.

He was awarded his BA in 1948 and two Masters degrees in 1949 from the Amos Tuck Business and Thayer  Engineering Schools.  While not studying he married Janice Barrett in August 1948.

His career centered around the International Paper Company traveling around the US with approximately five years stints in Atlanta Georgia, Chicago Illinois, Camden Arkansas, before settling in Research Center at Sterling Forest New York.

He has maintained an active multifaceted life outside of work through church, choir, tennis, and community service.  Jan and Carl have seemingly sung in choirs forever.  Carl has served quietly in church and is currently an elder in the Dutch Reformed Church in Warwick New York.  His enthusiasm for tennis was expressed in founding tennis clubs in Camden and Warwick New York , coaching tennis in Camden, and trouncing his children consistently!  His community service activities include working to create a community center, a town park, and assuming a leadership position in Meals On Wheels for many years.
