Isabelle Smith was born in 1892 on a farm in Waterford, Vermont.  After graduating from Littleton, New Hampshire high school, she worked in the New Hampshire State Library and was secretary to a judge.  She married Arthur Barrett in 1919 upon his return from World War I.
After Arthur died in 1955, she was a saleperson at the former Speare's Dry Goods Store in Nashua.
Isabelle served as president of the Nashua YMCA Auxiliary, and was active in the Nashaway Women's Club. and the First Church (Congregational) U.C.C of Nashua.  She passed away in 1979 at Warwick, New York.
