Nellie Maria (Curtis) Smith was born at Stratford, New Hampshire on
June 4, 1861, the daughter of Freeman B. and Ellen E. Curtis.
They moved to Littleton, New Hampshire in 1882. She attended
local schools and then was a successful teacher until March 30, 1887, when
she married Byron R. Smith of Littleton. The couple moved to Passumpsic,
Vermont. Later they returned to Littleton.
Nellie resided with her daughter, Isabelle in Nashua following the
death of her husband Byron in 1928.
Nellie led the strenuous life of a farmer's wife yet she was a gentle
soul.
She died in Nashua on December 3, 1945.
