| Walter Evans was born in Gorham, Maine in 1896. He moved with
his family as his father built the Boston
& Maine Railroad.
Walter graduated from high school in Nashua New Hampshire where he was a star runner and state record holder. He obtained an after school job as a mail clerk about 1911 and continued service to what became the Nashua Corporation until his retirement in 1961, except for a period of military service during World War I. His career was rewarding eventually serving as a senior officer and director. Walter served in the Navy, primarily in Newport, Rhode Island. He possessed a sharp wit. He enjoyed golf, curling and daily walks on the beach at Drakes Island, Maine with his dog and an occasional grandchild. Walter was a member of the Nashua Country Club and Webhannet Golf Club. |
