Walter Francis Evans

Walter Evans was born in Gorham, Maine in 1896.  He moved with his family as his father built the Boston & Maine Railroad.

Walter graduated from high school in Nashua New Hampshire where he was a star runner and state record holder.

He obtained an after school job as a mail clerk about 1911 and continued service to what became the Nashua Corporation until his retirement in 1961, except for a period of military service during World War I.  His career was rewarding eventually serving as a senior officer and director.

Walter served in the Navy, primarily in Newport, Rhode Island.

He possessed a sharp wit.  He enjoyed golf, curling and daily walks on the beach at Drakes Island, Maine with his dog and an occasional grandchild.
