Yosemite

Yosemite is a photographer's paradise. There is no way to capture this place in six images, but here are a few that you might enjoy. We enjoy the grand vistas, but our favorite experiences have been capturing more intimate scenes.

Overview of the valley.

Yosemite Chapel at dawn. We were struck by the serenity of the chapel, dwarfed by the massive granite cliff. Somehow, this seems to put the world into perspective.

Yosemite valley and reflection. This was taken in the fall, when the Merced River was flowing slowly. A split neutral density filter was used to balance the brightness of the reflected and non-reflected portions.

Trees in front of Nevada Falls. This was taken from the trail to Nevada Falls, with a 300mm lens.

Tree and Yosemite Falls.

This scene from the creek downstream of Bridalveil Falls was taken in the fall. Sunlight filtering through turning leaves in the canopy above the falls provided a warm glow.
