What is Outbike NJ:

Outbike New Jersey is the Gay and Lesbian bicycle club of New Jersey open to cyclists of all persuasions who love to bike in the Garden State....NOW IN OUR 20TH YEAR! We plan rides on alternating Saturdays and Sundays from April through November. Our rides take us up to Nyack, NY, through the Great Swamp, over to the Delaware River, down the Jersey shore, out to Far Hills and Pennsylvania and beyond.

You'll get access to photos, ride reports, the calendar and weekly updates and directions to our rides. We ask members to be over 18 and give us a first and last name.


We have a facebook group, but you have to be a member of Outbike NJ to join. How do you become a member? Come join us for a ride, of course.

Ride types:

We ride if the temperature is above 32 and below 90 degrees at 8 am and there's no precipitation.
1) Road - Road or hybrid bikes. 25-45 miles. Some have substantially more hills than others. Speed? Usually in the 12-14 mph. We've added advanced road rides with longer distances and faster speeds for those who can take the challenge.
2) Easy -Any bike types. 12-17 miles, sometimes 20 but flatter roads, slower pace. Basic riding experience is expected: You should have ridden at least ten miles before trying an easy ride.
1) Mountain - Mountain bike or really good hybrids required. Short, hilly, usually with multiple loops. These rides are rated as beginner, intermediate and advanced rides depending on the skills needed to safely enjoy the ride.
2) Trail -Hybrid or mountain bikes. 25 miles or less on gravel or dirt trails. Easy pace and usually flat, with a few hills. This is an advance beginner ride for road or mountain riders.
All rides require helmets. All rides are led by volunteers and you ride at your own risk. We strongly recommend bringing extra tubes, a pump, bike tools and enough water and snacks to have a fun time.
Ride starting times vary between 10 am and 1 pm, so we advise you to RSVP to make sure you know when we start. We like RSVP's by Wednesday by emailing the leader.
