The Last Will and Testament of Adam Moler

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I, Adam Moler, of the County of Berkeley and State of Virginia, being weak in body but of sound memory blessed be God do this Ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred eighty three make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say

 

FIRST I recommend my Soul to God in hopes of a Joyful resurrection and

 

SECOND by the worldly estate that it doth please God to bestow me with, I do hereby allow to be Sold and Distributed among my children as follows.

 

ITEM I give and bequeath to my sons John and Frederick and my Daughter Mary the sum of thirty pounds each in consequence of making them equal with what I have already given my other other sons and daughters mentioned underneath AND the remainder of my Estate I give and bequeath and allow to be equally divided among my Sons Jacob, Henry, Michael, Gasper, Adam, John, Frederick and my Daughters Elizabeth and Mary except the sum of One shilling Sterling which I give and bequeath to my Daughter Anne.

 

LASTLY I make and ordain my well beloved friend Henry Little of Sharpsburg in the County of Washington and State of Maryland and my son Adam Moler, Junior my sole Executors of this my will and testament.

 

IN WITNESS Whereof I the said Adam Moler have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day month and year above written.

Signed Sealed and Delivered by the said Adam Moler Senr. As and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and Sealing thereof Thos Pollock, Melchor Stroop


At a Court held for Berkeley County the 18th day of November, 1783. This last will and testament of Adam Moler deceased was produced in Court by Henry Little and Adam Moler, Jr. the executors therein named, who made oath thereto according to the law and the same being proved by the oaths of Thomas Pollock and Melchor Stroop witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded in on the motion of the said Executors who entered into bond with Philip Entlor and Melchor Stroop their security in the penalty of one thousand pounds conditioned for their true and faithful administration of the said Estate, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate in due form of law.
