BACH_THUM.JPG (7487 bytes) "The Bachelors" is a drypoint on copper, which is made by scraping onto the plate with a scribe.  This technique can leave a bolder and more blurred line than a line etching.  I wanted to depict both the loneliness and the camaraderie among a bachelor band of mustangs.  Mustangs are very fascinating and beautiful to me in their own right.

"The Bachelors" is available for $125.00 US in a small limited edition (probably less than 20 prints).   It is printed on a light brown decorative paper and measures 9 X 12 inches (unmatted).  With matting this print will fit into a standard size 14 X 16 inch frame.

DURERTHUM.JPG (5282 bytes) "Dürer Dog" is a hand-pulled lithograph.  It was drawn, inked and pulled by me, the artist, rather than by a printshop.  It began several years ago as a pen & ink study of a drawing by Albrecht Dürer, the great 15th & 16h century artist.  I recently resurrected my drawing and recreated it on a lithograph paper.  This version is much less 'tight' than my original drawing, which hopefully means I've made some progress artistically.  I also wanted the lines on the plate to look a bit distressed to give the piece an aged appearance.

"Dürer Dog" is available for $200.00 US in a very limited edition (probably less than 15 prints) due to the unknown aspects of the new technology of paper-plate lithography.   It is printed on a very light buff-colored paper and measures 15 X 20 inches (unmatted).  With matting this print will fit into a standard size 20 X 24 inch frame.  Please specify beige or grey matting.

FLYINGTHUM.JPG (5946 bytes) "Joy", a piece depicting driving, was also created using white ground.  The substance is brushed onto the copper plate before etching for a painterly appearance.  I utilized aqua-tint, dry point, and finally chine colle with several small pieces of dark-blue Oriental paper.  I someday hope to learn to drive since it looks like an exhilarating experience.  Often it seems the horses find it exhilarating too, which is what I tried to capture with this piece.

"Flying" is available in a limited edition of 30 prints for $225.00 US.  It is printed on white paper with with black ink and has several pieces of dark-blue lace-type Oriental paper chine colle'd (pasted) onto the paper in several areas.  The image measures approximately 10 by 14 inches (unmatted).  With matting this print will fit into a standard size 16 X 20 inch frame.

DRESSAGETHUM.JPG (6035 bytes) "Dressage Dreams" was created using 'white ground', which is a white pasty substance that can be brushed onto a copper plate to make the image look more painterly.  I also utilized aqua-tint and dry point to get the very dark areas.  I am a dressage-enthusiast and placed this rider on a horse with a more 'baroque' type physique.  After applying the many substances to this plate, it took on a dream-like appearance and hence, the title.

Also available in BLACK & WHITE.

"Dressage Dreams" is available in an edition of 20 prints for $225.00 US.  It is printed on buff-colored or white paper and measures approximately 13.5 by 10 inches (unmatted).  With matting this print will fit into a standard size 16 X 20 inch frame.

STALSPIRITTHUM.JPG (7638 bytes) "Stallion Spirit" is a mono-type print, meaning that only one print can be pulled from the plate.  I 'painted' the image onto a piece of Plexi-glass with ink.  I then transferred the image from the Plexi-glass to a piece of buff-colored paper by running the plate & paper through the press.  With this print, I wanted to capture the violence (and simultaneously, the beauty) with which horses can react to each other.

"Stallion Spirit" is a unique print (only 1 in the edition plus the "ghost print"), measuring 11 X 15.5 inches.  With matting, it will fit into a 20 X 24 inch standard size frame. "Stallion Spirit" is available for $225.00 US.
