Lino-cut Prints

Scratch3thum.JPG (4787 bytes) "Scratch that Itch" is a lino-cut I did in a workshop with well-known equine artist, Sam Savitt.  We had an actual 'horse model' who was not the MOST cooperative model I've ever had....  However he did provide wonderful inspiration for this piece, as did the beautiful tree that he was tied under.

"Scratch that Itch" is available for $110.00 US (edition of 30).   The image measures approximately 11 X 8 inches (unmatted) and is shipped matted to the standard frame size of 16 X 14 inches.

honeymnthum.JPG (4711 bytes) "Honeymoon at the Sylvia" was based on a photograph I took of the famous old Sylvia Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia.  My husband and I stayed there on the English Bay on our honeymoon.  I was really taking a picture of him (corner room on the third floor) but when I got the film developed I saw a very contrasted (sort of yin-yang) picture of the hotel that I thought would make a nice abstracted lino-cut.

"Honeymoon at the Sylvia" is available for $115.00 US (edition of 40) and measures 10 X 9 inches.  It is printed on a slightly off-white paper.  Shipped with matting, the piece measures 16 X 15 inches.

andalucthum.JPG (8588 bytes) "Andalucia" gets its name from the southern-most region of Spain know as Andalucia.  This is where the beautiful and brave 'Andalusian' horse originates from. There are several old, old villages here with red roofs, known as the 'white villages' of Spain.  I've have not yet been to Spain, but it remains my dream to visit someday.

"Andalucia" is available for $150.00 US (edition of 25) and measures 12 by 9 inches (unmatted) and comes matted to approximately 18 X 15.5 inches with single- or double-matting.  Please specify which matting you prefer (single is white, double is white with red).

SHEEPTHUM.JPG (6316 bytes) "The Opportunists" (Audad Sheep) I encountered while on a visit to Fossil Rim wildlife park in Texas.  These strange little animals surrounded my vehicle so that I had to stop and feed them.  They stood motionless, staring at me with their amber-colored eyes.  I felt like I was under mind-control to do their bidding.  I still carry with me the memory of the repeating rhythm of their beautiful horns, which I tried to capture in this piece.

"The Opportunists" is available in limited edition (email for price) and is printed on black paper with white ink, a technique used by Picasso.  The unmatted dimensions are 24 X 18 inches and is shipped rolled in a tube.

MATRIXTHUM.JPG (6833 bytes) "Matrix of Art" (Matriarchs of Art) began as a tribute to a favorite artist of mine, Kathe Kollwitz, a famous German Expressionist printmaker from the early part of this century. The female artist in the center of the triptych is Louise Nevelson, a modern abstract sculptor. The female artist on the right is the popular abstract painter, Georgia O'Keeffe.

"Matrix of Art" is available for $150.00 US (edition of 20) and measures 22 X 9 3/4 inches. Your choice of matting - a three-hole mat or three separate mats of 11 X 14 inches.

dallasmnthum.JPG (9735 bytes) My cityscape "Dallas with Moon" gets its title from the painting which inspired it - Georgia O'Keeffe's "New York with Moon", 1925. Downtown scenes and the flying red horse in Dallas, which was originally the logo of Magnolia Oil (now Mobil) have been favorite subjects of mine.

"Dallas with Moon" is available for $100.00 US (edition of 10) and measures 12 X 12 inches (unmatted) and comes matted to approx. 15 X 15 inches with double-matting.

LIONREDTHUM.JPG (7336 bytes) The lion ("Lion II" pictured at left) has held a certain fascination for me and has been a recurring subject in my art since I was very young.

Currently, a black and white lino-cut print of the lion ("Lion I") is available for $50.00 US (edition of 20) and a second edition of 25 ("Lion II") in red ink on yellow paper (Andy Warhol-esque) is also available (same price). Each print is approx. 7 X 9 inches and is matted to the size of 11 X 14 inches (which is a standard ready-made frame size).
