A busy Euclid Avenue in 1945;  (get that guy a toothpick!).  Before they started opening those new-fangled things called Shopping Centers, if you couldn't get it on Euclid Avenue...you couldn't get it!

Remember the movie the Deerhunter (Robert DeNiro, Meryl Streep, Christopher Walken)?  That was filmed in the old West 14th. Neighborhood, whose skyline is dominated by St. Tikhon's Orthodox Church.  Here's how it looked in 1940:
